“I am often wrong in my estimation of people when I meet them. Only time and experience reveal character.” ~ Alan Cohen

Joy Comes at Night.

December 21, 2017

An old verse from the Psalms says, “Weeping may tarry for the night, but joy comes in the morning.” Many times in my life I have clung to those words. To the promise that day follows night. To the “light at the end of the tunnel.”

But through the years, I have learned that Joy also comes at night.

The various settings of the Christmas story all speak of Light that comes in darkness. They tell of great – “exceeding and overwhelming”- Joy that comes even in the most challenging of circumstances.

This Sunday, we light the Advent candle for Joy. We will be reflecting on – and experiencing – Joy throughout our services that day. The 10am morning service with the wonderful radio play, “The Catalyst,” written and directed by JoEllen Fulton, and acted out by nine of our Unity congregants, is all about the love and joy that come to a very diverse group of people seeking a way to celebrate together their different faith traditions at this time of year.

The Christmas Eve candlelight services proclaim Joy to the World through song and verse, community and reflection, and the magic of children and candles.

We hope to see you and yours at any or all of the services! And we wish you Faith, Peace, Love, and Joy this season and always!
