Mark and I are delighted to be heading into our seventh year as music directors here at Unity FC. It's been a joyous journey, filled with fun and laughter, as well as musical and personal growth. Working (playing) with Lynn is a highlight of our week. It's such a joy to come up with music each week (some of which is inspired and written specifically for the weekly topic) that dovetails into Lynn's talks, and facilitates the message to go even deeper into our hearts and souls.
We've experienced quite a year with the music, not only with our "house band" of sorts - the Unitics, which regularly features Cory Carroll on bass and Gerald Gates on drums, but with other guest musicians from near and far. From our own community, Rob Wojtowick and Dave Johnson often join us on drums, Terry Meyer regularly sings harmony with us, and there are many other talented folks right here at home that share with us. Nationally touring artists have included Johnsmith, Tom Kimmel, Carrie Newcomer, Justin Roth and Judith Avers, and we've actually created quite a name for ourselves as the hot spot as far as churches go for touring artists to share their music. We always get comments from visiting artists about how good it feels here amongst our Unity community.
Mark and I love serving this community and have held several musical events this past year to benefit Unity's Expansion fund, including "Write With Your Heart" playshops, our annual "Joy" concert in February, and our Heartsong Gratitude concert in November. Your generous contributions at these events garnered thousands of dollars and paid for many square feet of expansion space! So, thank YOU for supporting us and Unity in these endeavors.
