History of New Thought and Unity

 What is the next step for Unity? Well, for one Unity right now is in the midst of merging together with Unity Worldwide Ministries and the way the two entities will operate is unknown at this time. It is unclear to know what the next step for Unity are. Until a direction is chosen it is hard to say what I could do for Unity as a whole.

Locally, I serve my spiritual community by being a prayer chaplain praying for members on a monthly basis and by being available after service as the prayer chaplain for any congregant who would like or needs prayer that day. I also participate on the welcoming committee. I also participate in the prosperity team, working on ways to make the church more prosperous. I am in charge of the outside facilities and 0ne of my projects is to continue to repair and beautify…

When I surfed the internet for Unity materials, I saw that lots of other organizations are using the word, "Unity". A video game platform, an environmental group, another non-profit, a graphic arts company, etc. Too bad, I thought, because it makes it harder to find our Unity movement and messages. It was a reminder that I have always had trouble explaining what Unity is to others, who usually assume that it is the Unitarian church. I do my best as I try explain that it is something different...

I found and watched a few old "The Word from Unity" television spots, one minute each. They included television personalities from long ago: Jim Nabors, Audreuy Meadows, Wayne Rogers, Greg Morris. I was surprised that there were a lot of action- oriented featured words: "endeavor," "doing," "expectations," "friendliness". They were encouraging people to do good work and keep going.

I listened to a “Divine Intelligence Meditation”, on Youtube. It’s creative origin, Unity Worldwide Ministries. This meditation serves as a reminder to our whole being, that Divine Mind lives within us, in each and every cell, and that this intelligent force creates wholeness, health, abundance and prosperity.

The male voice of the meditation guide says, “Abundance is the nature of God and the principal of abundance expresses prosperity in our life.” He affirms, “Peace is our innate nature. We welcome it as we manifest it.”  The voice of the meditation guide gives the listener affirmations to say out loud, “I am Peace” “I am health”, “I am intelligence.”

This meditation reminded me that the Divine Mind is within every particle of my being, and with this force for peace, for intelligence, and for prosperity, all is possible.
