Module 5
Charles Fillmore on Lent
Charles Fillmore gave more than 60 talks in the Los Angeles and Northern California areas in 1937 about Lent. In his written Lenten teachings, he explains that observing Lent involves fasting, which means “abstaining from”. He believed the best way to observe Lent was to abstain from the human mind, the error mind, for the 40 days of Lent. During this time, a person should meditate on spiritual Truth with the goal of oneness with God. He believed Lent was an opportunity to deny human mind to discover Christ Consciousness or Divine Mind within and to become One with God.

Gwen. what a timely article on Lent. I think Charles Fillmore with his talks was asking the adults in attendance to make the stakes higher during Lent. Gone were the days when you were a child giving up eating too much candy or not being sassy (a favorite of my mom choosing for me) or whatever was a challenge when you were a child. Now he was asking those of us to step up, really challenging our spiritual growth during a season of renewal.
I think you presented the heart of the article.
