Our Bylaws

Here is a summary of the governance provisions for the Council, Spiritual Leaders, and Teams. This summary answers most common questions.

They structured to ensure collaborative leadership, legal compliance, and effective ministry operations:

1. Unity Council

  • Includes the Spiritual Leader(s) and at least six elected members, each serving up to two consecutive three-year terms.

  • Duties:

    1. Strategic planning and oversight of ministry direction.

    2. Evaluation and support of the Spiritual Leader(s).

    3. Appointment and definition of Ministry Teams.

    4. Financial oversight, including budget proposal, financial reviews, and staff compensation.

    5. Legal compliance and maintenance of records.

    6. Community engagement and transparent communication.

    7. Conflict resolution and Council member training.

2. Spiritual Leader(s)

  • Role: Responsible for spiritual direction, service content, and collaboration with Council and teams.

  • Duties: Encourages and coaches Council and teams, participates in service planning, and helps guide the ministry’s spiritual path.

3. Ministry Teams and Committees

  • Appointment: Council appoints teams and committees for specific operational areas (e.g., Finance, Facilities, Outreach, Technology, Youth and Family).

  • Authority: Teams manage their assigned scope, including budgeted finances, but do not have Council-level authority in key governance matters.

4. Membership

  • Rights: Members elect Council members, ratify bylaws, and participate in major property decisions. They can attend and participate in meetings after 60 days of membership.

This structure ensures shared leadership, accountability, and broad participation in the church’s governance.
