Mind-Cure/ Affirmative Prayer Works for me
Module 3: “Mind-Cure”
The things I utilize in a mind-cure treatment in my life are broad. I would not call it this, I use affirmative prayer combined with meditation and visioning. One of our children reaches out at various times for me to do a prayer, his words.
I think for a successful prayer I must be mindful of what works in words that work for me and resonate equally the words of others I am praying for. I do not always use affirmative prayer on myself as I am not objective enough at times. I call upon my ministerial friends and practitioners and prayer chaplain friends. My prayer warriors as I call them. I have had close friends for decades that hold the highest good for me and I them. I have a group of seven woman and no matter where we are in this world we hold that space for each other. All it takes is a group text and we are there for each other affirming Divine Order and Divine Love for each of us. Now Divine Order may not always look like answered prayer. At times I navigated very tough scenarios for myself and what I was seeking did not always come exactly how I had pictured it. But I am not praying to the benevolent father, Santa in the sky to remove a situation or a condition. Does that mean it has failed, of course not. Sometimes Divine Order has come wrapped in giving me new guidance about a condition and removing fear, so I keep persisting on ease of a condition or a situation.
Many of the people I pray for have a sophisticated viewpoint on mind-cure treatments and metaphysics in general. They do not outline exactly what they are seeking. They are in alignment with Divine Order and allow space for their indwelling God to guide them on their road to healing or another outcome they are seeking. In Religious Science there was a saying you treat and move your feet. Which means you use affirmative prayer in conjunction with medical treatment or advice on any given situation.
The last major mind-cure treatment I used was on my leg’s healing in conjunction to others praying for me. My leg is a complicated story, it has many twists and turns on road to its healing. I prayed for my leg be healed, but I did not pray for the road it took to get there. I did not anticipate or seek the journey required to achieve that goal. So was it a successful mind-cure treatment, yes or course. Would I have known two different conditions I had needed to be identified, and two surgeries later would be on this journey, no. But what I learned is to ask for help, ask for prayer, and be patient with my journey. Do I still have those two conditions? Yes, but I know so much more about how to take care of them. Will I have to have surgeries, well that falls in a category more to be revealed as my life unfolds. But each day is a gift, each day I can use my leg is wonderful, and I know I am up to facing whatever comes my way. That too is a gift.
I’m so glad you had prayer partners to help you navigate that journey.
You treat and move your feet. I love that meaningfull little saying. Nothing is ever accomplished with action, not even Divine healing. Our actions demonstrate our commitment to the belief of wellness. Thank you for that little gift.
